Episode #40 – Carol Harrington

Carol Harrington
Hometown: Reading, MA

How are you feeling about performing on Community Auditions?
“Excited and very happy to be a part of this long-run, respected TV show!”

How did you get interested in music in the first place?
“During the holidays, my grandmother would sit down and play the piano (by ear, she never studied music), and my family would sing the holiday songs together and in harmony. Sometimes we’d sing a’cappella. My father used to sing while listening to the radio on Sunday mornings. I’m not being biased when I say, my father had a fabulous singing voice.”

How long have you been performing?
“I started singing professionally when I was 14 years old, during the mid to late 60s. I was the lead singer and electric bass player of an all-girl rhythm and blues band called, ‘The Daisy Delegation.’ It was very unique to see and hear an all-girl R&B band back in those days because we didn’t just sing and dance, we all played an instrument!”

As a performer, what makes you stand out?
“People have told me that I connect with the audience well. I believe I stand out because people do listen when I sing. I sing songs we’ve all forgotten but once they hear me, then the songs bring back those ol’ memories.”

Who would you say has most inspired you?
“Karen Carpenter, Anne Murray, The Beatles, Elvis Presely, Wynonna Judd, Linda Ronstadt, Carole King, and many, many others.”

What do you like best about your hometown?
“Someone once said about Reading, ‘…the town square looks like it’s taken out of a Norman Rockwell painting.’ My hometown has a lot of history, dated back to when the town was settled in 1639 and incorporated in 1644!”

Episode #40 – Krystie Seese

Krystie Seese
Hometown: Milford, CT

How did you get interested in music in the first place?
“I have been performing since I was nine years old and have been hooked ever since!”

As a performer, what makes you stand out?
“I love to incorporate American Sign Language while I sing. I feel it adds a little something special.”

What kinds of music do you enjoy best?
“I love broadway and pop music!”

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?
“My greatest accomplishment so far has been graduating high school at the age of 16 and I will be graduating college at the age of 20.”

What do you like best about your hometown?
“I love my town’s greenery. There are cute shops and it looks like such a New England town. It’s so pretty in the winter when it snows!”

What would you like to be doing five years from now?
“Hopefully, I will be an elementary school teacher with a class of my own.”

Episode #40 – Nicole Boyd

Nicole Boyd
Hometown: Bridgeport, CT

How did you get interested in music in the first place?
“I have wanted to sing for a living since the third grade.”

Where have you performed?
“I have performed in Norwalk City Hall and different clubs from Wesport, CT to Branford, CT.”

What kinds of music do you like? Any favorite performers or favorite songs?
“‘Summertime’ by Janis Joplin – I love the rawness of her voice – and any Whitney Houston songs. I also love musicals of all types.”

How do you spend your free time?
“I love to read – mainly vampire novels. I also like painting and hiking.”

What is the most fun thing you have ever done?
“Taking care of my son.”

What would you like to be doing five years from now?
“Singing on stage somewhere – either my own album or performing in a musical.”
