Newton, Mass.- Tamar St. Julien was crowned the 2010 Community Auditions Grand Champion last weekend, on Community Auditions: Star of the Day! St. Julien won four “Stars of the Day” during the regular season; which landed her a spot in the finals. In the finals she won the judges over by singing a moving rendition of “Surrender” by Celine Dion.
It was that same song that landed her the 2010 Grand Championship Title, a record produced by the legendary producer Bob Johnston and a brand new, 2011 Subaru Impreza.
“Winning this contest was one of my biggest accomplishments thus far,” Julien said. “I’m so excited. I hope this leads to bigger and better things.”
St. Julien competed against the talent of Heather James, Mia Boostrom and Ashley Tucker in the Grand Championship making it a close competition and a difficult choice for the judges.
“These four women were amazing,” St. Julien said. “We all had different styles but the raw talent that was there was incredible! I still can’t believe the judges were able to pick a winner!”
St. Julien was judged by, MAGIC 106.7’s Candy O’ Terry, Barry Nolan, New England’s funny man Steve Sweeney, Farrenheit’s Charlie Farren and the Vice Chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, Richard E Sebastian.
After her name was announced she ‘couldn’t stop screaming for about an hour,’ St. Julien said.
As for the St. Julien’s future, she plans to really focus in on her music career. “I plan on working on my music and developing my gift so I can be the best at what I do,” St. Julien said.
