Episode #10- Felicia Johnson

Felicia Johnson
Boston, MA
Singing: The Greatest Love
By: Whitney Houston

What kind(s) of music do you enjoy best?  Any favorite performers or favorite songs?  And why do you like them?
“Wow!  I’m totally eclectic and love everything.  I do have a special love for Gospel and Jazz.  Jazz tells a story of the past, present, and future, and the unusual tones helps me to go places that normal genres would place limits on.  Jazz is colorful.  And Gospel tells the same story!  It liberates people, gives hope, inspiration and helps one to believe in something greater than themselves.  My favorite singer is Kim Burrell; she sings with no limits.  I love her!”

Who would you say has most inspired you?
“My sister LaTonya and my daughter Lucinia. Both have been the cheerleaders in my life, and I’ve had some very low and challenging times, but they have always believed in me even when I wasn’t so sure.  Priceless.”

Where have you performed?
“Reebok Human Rights Awards, New England Patriots, Church, Weddings, Americore, City Year, Christian Television (Augusta, GA)”

What would you like to be doing five years from now?
“Singing all over the world, and spending some time in another country for Missions…and married.”

How would you describe yourself to someone who does not know you?
“Friendly, kind, stranger to no one.  Simple but fun.  Helper.  Adventurer.”

Why do you deserve to be the next ‘Star of the Day’?
“I’ve always given my best with God’s help.  My life has had lots of lows, but it never broke me!  There are two things that are constant…my faith and my singing a song.  This I am certain.  I want to share my sound with the world and being the Star of the Day will help my dreams come true!”

Episode #10 – April Reidy

Singing: I’ll Stand By You

By: Carrie Underwood

What kind(s) of music do you enjoy best?  Any favorite artists or songs?

“I like pop music and all kinds of music.  I like Justin Bieber, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Celine Dion.”

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment thus far?

“Winning the first place talent contest at the Palace Theater.”

How would you describe yourself to someone who does not know you?

“Fun, trust-worthy, happy, musical, and brave!”

How do you like to spend your free time and what are your hobbies?

“Playing piano, singing, acting, ice skating, and swimming.”

What differentiates you from other musicians?

“I can play piano and sing at the same time, and a lot of people say I sound a lot older than a 13 year-old.”

Why do you deserve to be the next “Star of the Day?”

“Because I want to be able to touch people’s hearts with my songs, and I love to make people happy with my performances.  It’s a passion that I’ll never let go of because I want to do this for the rest of my life!”

Episode #10- Ashley MacDonald

Singing: Yellow

By: Coldplay

What kind(s) of music do you enjoy best?  Any favorite performers or songs?

“I like any music.  My favorite performers are Avril Lavigne, Paramore’s Hayley Williams, The Fray, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, and Eminem.  They are all my favorite because they do not have one song I can’t relate to.  They are all extremely talented.”

What would you say has most inspired you?

“If you are asking what inspires my music and songs, then the answer would be all my relationships and personal experiences.  If you’re asking what keeps me going with the music, then it’s the love around me and the support I get from family and friends.  Avril Lavigne inspired me to start and dream big though.”

What is the most fun thing you have ever done?

“Performing at the Hard Rock in Boston.  I’ve sung there three times, but the second time was my favorite.  The excitement of being in Boston and singing my own music for people was an irreplaceable feeling of fun.”

What differentiates you from other musicians?

“I am asked this a lot and I always find myself saying the sound of my voice.  I don’t talk the way I sing and people seem to be blown away by what comes out when I start a song – it’s unexpected.”

How would you describe your musical style?

“With my originals, it always has a rock/pop/country sound combined.  It’s unique and acoustic.”

What would you like to be doing five years from now?

“My ultimate dream has always been to become this famous singer who tours the world and sings for a huge crowd every night.  I hope to share my songs with the world to help girls like me pull through, as other artists have done for me.”

Episode #9- Megan Lally

Megan Lally
Hometown: Salem, NH
Singing: Leann Rimes
By: Blue

How did you get interested in music in the first place?
“Not long after I began talking, I began singing. My family knew that I had talent so they got me into singing lessons. My grandparents took me to weekly voice lessons beginning at age seven.”

What would you like to be doing five years from now?
“Five years from now, I would love to be performing, if not for my own events, for someone else’s who is well known so that I can gain experience and recognition. If I cannot make a career out of music, I will not be living my innermost dream. I would also like to own my own beauty salon.”

What kinds of music do you enjoy most? Any favorite performers?
“I enjoy a variety of music: hip hop, R&B, pop, and country. I love Rihanna – I love to sing her songs. Her style is an example of the kind of music I would like to sing and dance. It feels natural.”

Who would you say has inspired you the most?
“My father. If anyone has taught to keep going no matter what, it is him. I don’t know where I would be without him.”
