Brett Michael Wilson- Episode #24

Brett Michael Wilson
Hometown: East Hampton, CT
Singing: If I Ain’t Got You By: Alicia Keys

What kind(s) of music do you enjoy best? Any favorite performers or favorite songs? And why do you like them?
“I enjoy any music that makes me feel good and slows down this hectic world we live in. Reggae is one of my favorite genres because of how simply it gets a message across. It almost always involves positive and uplifting messages, which can brighten anyone’s day. My favorite band outside of Reggae is The Dave Matthews Band. I have been a long time follower, fan, and supporter of him and his endeavors.”

What is the most fun thing you have ever done?
“I know it’s not a single experience, but I am a HUGE fan of traveling and seeing the world. Every time I visit a new country, I can’t help but have the time of my life. Learning foreign languages, cultures, and routines is something that will never seem dull to me. Some of my favorite countries I’ve been to are Spain, China, Italy, England, Mexico, Aruba, and Hong Kong.”

How would you describe yourself to someone who does not know you?
“My friends and family would first and foremost describe me as a loyal and caring person. I regularly go out of my way to make sure those that are close to me know how much I value their impact on my own life. Additionally, I feel like my charismatic attitude makes anyone in my presence feel comfortable regardless of how close they are to me. I hold other people’s feelings as high as I hold my own, and I believe this is why I am surrounded with such amazing individuals.”

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?
“I’d have to say my greatest accomplishment is being able to perform in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican during Holy Week. Knowing the importance and significance of that location the day after Easter, I felt beyond honored to be apart of their celebration.”

Shea Rose- Episode #23

Shea Rose
Hometown: Boston, MA
Singing: Rock n’ Rose  By: Shea Rose

How would you describe your musical style?

“I can say that I am a soulful, feisty, rockin’ storyteller and performer with traces of Blues, Hip Hop, Folk, Jazz, and Rock influences.  I find comfort in both a Janis Joplin blood curdling scream and a soothing Marvin Gaye groan, so when I write songs, they encompass both sentiments – the raw and the sensitive.”

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment so far?

“I am so very grateful to be studying at Berklee College of Music.  It has changed my life.  Through their support and guidance, I’ve had the opportunity to do some very cool things like appear on the 2010 BET Awards, travel to Athens, Greece to study music and perform, record with drumstress Cindy Blackman in Naples, Italy, host the weekly online events video guide “What’s Happening at Berklee,” open for Amel Larriuex (one of my influences), meet Queen Latifah, record a remake of Queen Latifah’s hit U.N.I.T.Y, and become a spokesmodel CoverGirl – ‘The Queen Collection.’  I feel so blessed!”

Who would you say has most inspired you?

“My family is my rock, more then I realize at times.  They have supported me in this endeavor, which makes this roller coaster ride much smoother.  I dedicate all of my performances to my late Great Aunt Lillian.  She taught me how to be a lady.”
