Al Cafaro

During his 35 year career in the music business, Al Cafaro has developed a reputation characterized by integrity and hard work. Cafaro started in radio as a part time announcer.

He worked his way to become the General Manager of WRPL in Charlotte, NC. In 1977 he moved to the record side of the business becoming the local promotion rep for A&M Records working in the Carolinas.

In his 22 year run at A&M, Cafaro moved to Philadelphia, New York and finally to the home office in Hollywood, Ca. During this time he worked as national Promotion Director, Vice President of Promotion, Senior Vice President & General Manager of A&M Records on his way to becoming the Chairman and CEO of A&M in 1990.

As CEO, Cafaro built worldwide revenues to $500 million with a profit margin of 18%, A&M Records was a company of 250 employees with a roster of many artists including Sting, Amy Grant, Janet Jackson, Barry White, Bryan Adams, Sheryl Crow, Soundgarden, Blues Traveller and Gin Blossoms.
