John Kellogg
John P. Kellogg is Assistant Chair of the Music Business/Management department at
the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and a practicing entertainment lawyer
specializing in the music industry with affiliations with law offices in New York City
and Cleveland, Ohio. A former vocalist with the group Cameo, he now advocates for
the rights of artists through his writings, which include his best-selling book, Take Care
of Your Music Business, The Legal and Business Aspects You Need to Know to Grow In
the Music Industry, and several articles published in refereed music industry journals and
publications including Billboard and Ebony magazines. In 2005, he was inducted into
the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association’s Hall of Fame. He is currently
President of the Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA), an
international organization of over 114 institutions and hundreds of educators providing
college-level courses studying the entertainment industries.
In addition to representing stellar clients Gerald Levert, 2005 Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame Inductees, The O’Jays, rappers G. Dep of Bad Boy Records and Stat Quo of Shady
Aftermath Records, he also performs as a vocal soloist and writes musical compositions.
